ISO/QS 9000 PREPARATION

GAP ANALYSIS

Firms contemplating ISO/QS 9000 usually begin with a Gap Analysis to baseline their present capability against the ISO/QS 9000 requirements. The assessment and subsequent reports provide detail on the specific areas that need to be addressed and a preparation plan, with cost and schedule to the point of registration audit, is developed.

QUALITY POLICY, MANUAL AND MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

A Quality or Quality Assurance Management Committee is established and a Management Representative appointed, usually the Quality Assurance Manager or Director. The Quality Policy, a statement on the company's quality position, together with specific quality objectives, is formulated, approved, signed by the Chief Executive Officer and posted throughout the company. The Quality Manual, containing the Quality Policy, follows and provides general guidance on how the company will comply with the various elements of ISO/QS 9000 and establish a viable quality process within the company.

QUALITY PROCEDURES, WORK INSTRUCTIONS & OTHER DOCUMENTS

All procedures required by the Gap Analysis are developed and implemented, together with any work instructions deemed to be necessary to support the procedure. All necessary forms, reports and records required by the procedures or work instructions are developed and become a part of the procedure or work instructions.

TRAINING

Training to complete the ISO/QS 9000 process includes the ISO/QS Overview Training for selected personnel, ISO/QS Internal Auditor Training for internal auditor selectees and SPC training for personnel that will be involved with the utilization of statistical techniques where required by the ISO/QS 9000 process.

OTHER ISO/QS 9000 SERVICES

Other services include registrar selection if the client firm decides to interview multiple registrars for registration. Assistance during the registration audit is available to ensure that the audit proceeds as efficiently as possible. On-going consulting is available to fine-tune the internal audit process and to prepare for recurring surveillance visits.
